Step 1
The easiest way to protect information is to pack the data into an archive with a password. This procedure can be done in any archiver. For example, in the Winrar program. Launch Winrar and use it as a file manager to open the data for archiving.
Step 2
Select a group of files and folders and click the Add to Archive icon in the top toolbar. The Archive Name and Settings window opens. Specify the archive name and the desired parameters: archive type and compression method. Go to the Advanced tab and click Set Password. Enter your intended password twice and check the box next to Encrypt file names. This is necessary so that the user cannot view the contents of the archive using special programs. Click OK twice and the archiving procedure will begin.
Step 3
Information can be encoded using TrueCrypt software. Download and install the program. You can find this software on the official website of the manufacturer www.truecrypt.org. Try to install in the system directory of the local drive, as such software should be located there. Open the application and point to files or entire external media. Encrypt the information using the "Volume Creation Wizard" located in the "Tools" menu.
Step 4
To decrypt information on another computer, you need a password and Winrar (if you created an archive) or a copy of TrueCrypt (if you used it). At this point in time, there are many types of different software that allows you to encrypt information in a few minutes. If you know how to program, then you can create the simplest encryption programs yourself.
