MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) is a modern type of technology for more convenient recording of files on multimedia media. Part of the tasks of MTP is to hide file records, or rather direct access to them, from incorrect work of ordinary users. In practice, it turns out that with the MTP system it is not always possible to record music on a computer. So how do you turn off MTP?

Instructions

Step 1

Disable MTP by changing the settings. Find your multimedia device i.e. a regular player in the device manager, which detects installed devices on the computer, checks and changes the hardware settings. Go to the MTP Device - Walkman section.

Step 2

Run the command in Device Manager "Update Driver". After the command, you will be prompted to search for a driver on the Internet. Refuse this offer. Also discard the automatic mode. There will remain one option with manual settings. In the appeared manual selection window there will be two options: MRT Device and USB Mass Storage Device. Choose the second option from USB. The computer will now recognize the multimedia device as a USB drive, i.e. like a simple flash drive. Please note that Media Transfer Protocol is only supported from version 10 of WPD (Windows Portable Devices).

Step 3

Disable MTP in a way that will permanently remove the driver. First, delete the WPD 10 entry from the system. Go to the C drive, then Windows, then to the Registered Packages section, etc. and finally the WPD 10 installation.

Step 4

Remove the Windows Driver Foundation (WDF) libraries from the previous path with the wpdmtp.dll, wpdmtpus.dll wpdconns.dll endpoints. WDF has tools to help you validate the correctness of your driver code. If there are common bugs, WDF can simulate driver writing code to identify causes that are difficult to find and test.

Step 5

Delete the WDF service directly. Use the paths described above with the end point sc delete umwdf. Also, delete the entry about using the multimedia device with your own ID - this is desirable, but not necessary. Reboot your PC - your device will work like a flash drive. The task has been completed.
