When installing new programs or updating the system, certain problems may arise. Some of them are insignificant and easily removable, while others require rollback to restore normal operation of the computer - returning the system to its previous level.
Instructions
Step 1
In the Windows operating system, it is possible to restore an earlier state of the system, but for this one condition must be met - it is necessary to create checkpoints in time. Click the "Start" button, then open: "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "System Tools" - "System Restore". In the window that opens, select "Create a restore point" and click "Next". Enter the name of the restore point (any) and click the "Create" button. Close the window by clicking "Close".
Step 2
You have created a restore point. Now, in case of any problems after installing new programs or updating the system, you can select the created restore point and roll back the system to that day. In order for you to be able to roll back the system day by day, you should create a new restore point every day.
Step 3
Windows also creates restore points automatically, but this happens only when installing programs or when performing other actions that are dangerous to the system. If you do not install new programs and once a failure occurs, then an attempt to restore does not give anything due to the absence of checkpoints - they are simply not created by the operating system. If you go to the recovery utility menu, you will see that most days are not in bold. This means that no restore points have been created for them.
Step 4
Practice shows that even if there are restore points, it is far from always possible to return the system to its previous state - after the program terminates and the computer restarts, a message appears that it was not possible to restore the system state for that day. Therefore, you should not rely on the recovery utility, it is much more reliable to install a second OS on your computer (on another disk or disk partition). Whatever happens to the main operating system, you can always boot from the second one. This will save important data and calmly start restoring the main OS.
