Not all computers have Russian keyboard layouts by default. Often there are some difficulties with the addition of an additional layout, since the settings are hidden far enough in the system.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure the Russian keyboard layout has not been added previously. To do this, use the Shift + Alt / Ctrl key combination, or, if no shortcut to changing the keyboard is assigned, use the language bar at the very bottom of the screen. To do this, click on the icon and see if there is a Russian layout in the list, if not, correct this parameter using the system configuration settings in the corresponding item on the control panel.
Step 2
Open the Regional and Language Options menu in your computer's Control Panel. You will see the language bar settings window. Here you can add new keyboard layouts, delete unnecessary ones, change the keyboard shortcut to control input, customize the keyboard in a certain way when working in individual programs, and many others.
Step 3
It is best to create a restore point to quickly roll back to previous values before making any changes to the system. This will save you time if you accidentally configure the layout incorrectly. This can be done using the list of standard utilities in the Start menu.
Step 4
Click the Languages tab. On the right you will see a button "More details, click it. In a new window that opens, make sure that none of the items on the "Advanced" tab are ticked, especially additional text services. Go back to the first tab.
Step 5
Click the "Add" button, select the Russian keyboard layout, as well as those that you will use in the future besides it. Open the keyboard options and assign keys for switching input languages that are convenient for you. In the new window that appears, click on the change keyboard shortcut, make the desired changes and save them. Close all windows by pressing the "OK" button one by one.
