Like any remotely running application, Acronis Group Server requires activation. Before starting the backup, the program sends a packet that delivers sixteen consecutive copies of the network addresses of the receiving cards to the network card. It is with this package that the remote computer is activated to perform the assigned tasks.
Necessary
Program Acronis Group Server
Instructions
Step 1
It is possible to activate the Group Server by a network signal only if the task for it was created precisely through this program. In order to enable the network wake-up option on the machine that stores the backup, you need to perform a number of steps.
Step 2
Enter the computer BIOS and in the Power menu, under Wake On PCIPME, select the PowerOn option. Set the required parameters of the network card. To do this, go to the "Control Panel" menu, the "System" section, the "Device Manager" tab, the "Network adapters" section, and select the "Define a network card" option there.
Step 3
In the properties of this parameter, select the Power Management: EnablePME parameter, specify the Enabled WakeOn Link parameter, check the OS Controlled WakeOn Settings setting, and check the box next to WakeOn Magic Packet. Determine the MAC address of the machine. This must be done in the "Network Connection" menu, "Status" section, "Support" tab, "Network Connection Details" button, and the "Physical Address" parameter in the window that opens.
Step 4
Repeat the above steps for each computer to be wake-up. To enable the "Activation by network signal" setting, find in the list of machines that archive the data the one for which the user wants to activate this parameter, select this machine and set its MAC address in the Group Server settings.
Step 5
You can do it like this - in the side panel, open the "Computer data" menu, and in the "Set MAC address" text box, enter the MAC address in HEX format like XXXXXXXXXX or XX-XX-XX-XX. Clicking on the OK button saves it. The program checks the MAC address for actual compliance and displays the verification result. Each computer will need to set the MAC address, which must be activated by a network signal.
Step 6
Schedule group backup tasks for the specified computer. When selecting options for this task, ensure that Wake On Line is enabled. The computer that will be in standby mode at the start of the task will be activated to complete the task.
Step 7
After the process of saving the backup archive is completed, which will occur after a certain time interval has elapsed, the machine will go into standby mode again, and will be ready to set new tasks, and the backup archive can be started on another machine.
