The Windows operating system is usually installed using laser CDs. In the event that a disk drive is absent or does not function on the user's computer, the system can be installed using removable media - USB flash drives.

Step 1
To install Windows, you must first download the operating system image. You need to get an ISO image of the disc.

Various utilities are used to install Windows onto a USB drive. So, you can use the popular WinToFlash program, which has an intuitive interface and is available to any computer user. Download the program from the developer's official website and extract the resulting archive to any convenient folder on your computer. After unpacking, go to the directory and run the WinToFlash file.

In the program window, specify the path to the system image file with the iso extension. Then select your flash drive and specify the file system you would like to format the media to. To install modern Windows 7 and 8 systems, the NTFS type is used. To install earlier versions, you can convert the flash drive to FAT32. After making all the settings, click Start and wait until the unpacking of the necessary files is completed.
Step 4
Besides the WinToFlash program, there are other utilities for burning discs. One of the popular programs is UltraISO. Right-click on the image and click "Open with". After that select UltraISO and click "OK".
Step 5
In the program window, go to the "Burn image to hard drive" item. Specify your USB flash drive in the appropriate paragraph of the window that appears. Then click on the Xboot - Write new MBR button and click "OK". After making the settings, press "Record" and wait until the end of the procedure. The installation of Windows to USB is now complete.
Step 6
After Windows has written to the USB flash drive, restart your computer and go to BIOS. To do this, when starting the computer, press the F2 key. In the First Boot Device section, select the name of your flash drive and press F10, and then Y to save the changes made. Then wait until the computer restarts and the installation program starts. Installing an OS from a USB flash drive will proceed in the same way as from a disk.
