At the beginning of the use of computers, a blinking rectangle was called a cursor, which marked the position of the next character in the command line. With the advent of the graphical interface of the operating system, the same name was assigned to the mouse pointer. Sometimes a computer user has to solve problems associated with this cursor - return its display in the application window or restore its previous appearance.

Instructions

Step 1

Sometimes, when programs are running, the mouse pointer disappears from the computer screen - this happens due to the peculiarities of the application program code or a failure in the operating system. Try to fix the defect by temporarily switching to a window of any other application. To do this without using the cursor, press the alt="Image" key and, without releasing it, press the tab key.

Step 2

Rows of icons of the currently open applications will appear on the screen - by pressing the tab key again, you can select any of them. Once done, release the Alt key and the selected application window will expand on the screen.

Step 3

Return to the application that lost the cursor coordinates. The program code will reset the previous incorrect information about the position of the pointer, redefine it and the pointer will appear in the application window.

Step 4

If the cursor is present on the screen and you want to return it to its initial appearance, use the appropriate set of operating system settings. In Windows OS, access to the settings for the appearance of the cursor can be obtained through the "Control Panel" - select the item with this name in the main menu of the system, and the panel will be opened in a separate window.

Step 5

Find the "Hardware and Sound" section and click on its title to launch the OS component that contains the desired settings. In the latest versions of Windows, you can get to it in another way - open the main menu, type "chicken" and click on the link "Change the appearance of the mouse pointer" in the list of search results.

Step 6

On the "Pointers" tab of the opened window there is a drop-down list "Scheme". By selecting one of the items in it, you will change the appearance of the cursor, but at the same time other design elements will also change - fonts, sounds and colors. If this method does not suit you, find and select in the list below the line of the type of cursor you want to change.

Step 7

Click the "Browse" button, find a suitable image and click on the "Open" button. Do this for all table rows containing cursors that need to be changed and close the settings window with the OK button.
