In the event of a failure in the operating system, the computer starts to reboot automatically, the user does not have time to read what exactly caused the error. This is not always convenient. With the correct settings, a message with information about the cause of the failure will remain on the screen until the user himself reboots.
Instructions
Step 1
To disable automatic restart of your computer on system failure (leaving the so-called blue screen of death), you need to follow a few steps. Call the "System" component. To do this, open the Control Panel through the Start menu or the Windows key. In the Performance and Maintenance category, click the System icon.

Alternatively, right-click on the “My Computer” item on the desktop or in the “Start” menu. Select Properties from the context menu. A new System Properties dialog box appears. Make the "Advanced" tab active in it.
Step 3
In the "Startup and Recovery" group, click on the "Options" button, a new window will open under the name "Startup and Recovery". Remove the marker from the field opposite the "Perform automatic reboot" item in the "System Failure" group. If necessary, you can set a marker in the "Write event to the system log" field. Apply the new settings.
Step 4
After these steps, a system crash restart will not be performed automatically; instead, a blue screen with an error message will appear. If you have specified in the settings to write events to the log, after a reboot you will be able to re-read the message and possibly take appropriate action.
Step 5
To view the event log, open Control Panel from the Start menu and select Administrative Tools from the Performance and Maintenance category. Select the Event Viewer icon from the shortcuts in the folder. A new window will open.
Step 6
In the left part of the window, select the "System" item with the mouse and familiarize yourself with the list. Error messages are highlighted with a red icon. To read the entire message of interest, double-click on it with the left mouse button - it will be opened in a separate window.
