No user is immune from the appearance on the monitor of the so-called "blue screen of death". If the system crashes, the computer restarts, and the user does not always have time to get acquainted with the information about the error itself. The automatic system reboot function can be disabled.
Instructions
Step 1
The "System" component is responsible for the order of actions performed by the system in the event of failures. It can be called in several ways. Open "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu. In the Performance and Maintenance category, click on the System icon. If the "Control Panel" has a classic look, this icon is available immediately.
Step 2
Another way: go to "Desktop" and right-click on the item "My Computer". Select the last item "Properties" in the drop-down list by clicking on it with the left mouse button. A new System Properties dialog box will open.
Step 3
In the window that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab. In the "Startup and Recovery" group (located at the bottom of the window) click on the "Options" button. This action will bring up an additional "Startup and Restore" dialog box.
Step 4
Find the "System Failure" group in the central part of the window and make sure that the marker in the "Perform automatic restart" field is not selected. If the marker is set, remove it by clicking on the field with the left mouse button.
Step 5
Additionally, you can check the box "Write event to the system log" so that you can, if necessary, familiarize yourself with the necessary data. Click the OK button to close the Startup and Recovery window, close the System Properties window.
Step 6
To view the data contained in the event log, open the Control Panel from the Start menu. In the Performance and Maintenance category, select the Administration icon. Select Event Viewer from the available shortcuts. A new window will open.
Step 7
In the left part of the window, select the "System" line with the left mouse button, wait until the list of events recorded in the log is formed. To view the message about a particular event, double-click the left mouse button on the required line in the right part of the window. Alternatively, right-click on the event and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
