Fans of collecting collections of pictures, video files, books and audio files are familiar with the following problem - Windows constantly displays a message about the lack of hard drive capacity. On the one hand, there is nothing wrong with such a message, but on the other hand, it may appear at the wrong time, for example, when the PC owner is playing with enthusiasm. System tools do not allow you to disable it, so a different approach is needed here.
Instructions
Step 1
It's best to use the simplest method first - to clean up disk space. Delete unused programs, unnecessary files. Also, it will not be superfluous to clean up old system files. The OS itself can help with this. In the context menu, which drops out when you right-click on the icon of the "clogged" partition of the hard drive, find "Properties". In the window that appears, click on the "Disk Cleanup" button. Use checkboxes to mark all groups of system files that you do not need - Temp (temporary files), logs, data from the recycle bin. Then click OK.
Step 2
If your PC has a lot of RAM, you can reduce the size of pagefile.sys, that is, the paging file, or disable it altogether. You can also refuse hibernation, disable System Restore, which will deprive you of the large System Volume Information folder and the ability to automatically restore the system after failures. You can also demolish the Windows / Driver Cache / i386 / directory on the system partition, after which all backup drivers will stop taking up space, but installing new devices will require manual editing of the drivers. Remove components from the System32 / dllcache / folder in the system directory.
Step 3
If the cleaning was unsuccessful, go to the registry. In the regedit utility, find the Software / Microsoft / CurrentVertion / Policies / Explorer branch in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE section, create or find the NoLowDiskSpasceChecks DWORD parameter already located there and set it to "1". This will not increase the space on the hard drive, but the message will no longer appear.
