The MAC address itself is one of the characteristics of the network card, and the question of its installation implies just setting this parameter.
Changing this address is usually required when using the Internet from two different PCs or when operating two network cards at once on one computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Using the left mouse button, click on the "Start" button and stop at the menu item called "Control Panel".
Step 2
Double click on the computer-shaped icon. Be careful to make sure the shortcut is named "System". By clicking on this icon, you will find yourself in the settings area of the operating system and your computer equipment. Notice that a window called "System Properties" has opened in front of you.
Step 3
Click on the "Hardware" tab and use the "Device Manager" button. After completing this action, you will receive a complete list of all real and virtual devices that make up your computer.
Step 4
Open the item called "Network Cards". Access the dropdown list by clicking on the plus button. In the drop-down list, you must select the network card for which you need to change the MAC address.
After you have decided on the card - click on its image with the right mouse button and in the menu that appears, use the "Properties" option.
Step 5
In the window that appears under the name "Properties" (opposite this word should be the name of your network card) go to the "Advanced" tab, after which you will see a list where you need to use the item "Network address".
In order to write your own value for the MAC address, you need to check the box opposite the empty field for entering text.
Step 6
Enter the required network address in this field, but remember that it should be written in a standard format, which implies the absence of various kinds of indents, spaces and hyphens.
Step 7
Use the OK button after you finish editing the MAC address value. Don't worry about the rest of the unclosed windows. Regardless of their state, the new value of the MAC address has already been assigned to your network card.
