If you upload your own files to public file-sharing resources or several users work on your computer, a situation may arise when you have to take care of restricting access to your data. You don't have to be a computer genius to do this. You can simply pack the files into an archive with a password.
Necessary
WinRAR archiver
Instructions
Step 1
Using the file manager you are using, find the file on the hard disk of your computer that you are going to pack into an archive with a password.
Step 2
Position the cursor over the file icon and right-click. In the context menu that appears, select the "Add to archive" command.
Step 3
Configure backup options. In the archive settings window that opens, specify the name of the archive to be saved. By default, the archive is assigned the name of the file to be packed. Select RAR in the "Archive format" field. If you are going to send the zipped file by e-mail, and the file is large, create a multivolume archive. Enter the size of one volume in the corresponding field or select a size from the drop-down list. Click on the "Advanced" tab. In this tab, click on the "Set Password" button. In the window that opens, enter the password twice and check the "Encrypt file names" checkbox. Click OK on the Password Backup window.
Step 4
Click OK on the Backup Options window. A password archive has been created.
