The purpose of widgets in modern operating systems is to display information in small blocks on the desktop. This can be useful information about the computer, about events in the virtual or real world. In addition, they can be used as decoration, as simple games, etc. Despite the fact that these applications do not require the launch of any additional applications for their work, they are add-ons to the programs already installed on the computer. There are also widgets that use the Opera browser as the base application.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the browser menu and go to the "Widgets" section. Click the "Select widgets" line and Opera will load into the current page that section of its manufacturer's website, in which professional programmers and amateurs place the widgets they have created for this browser.

Step 2

There is another way to get to this page. To use it, open the side panel by pressing the F4 key and click on the gear icon. The panel will open a section related to managing widgets. Clicking the plus sign in the topmost row will load the same page as in the previous step.

Step 3

Select the widget you want to install in Opera. If you know its name, use the search form - the search query input field is placed in the first line of the left column. In the same column, there are links to nine sections of the widget catalog (Games and Entertainment, Radio and Music, Webcams, etc.). There are 18 sections in total - a link to their full list is placed below.

Step 4

Using this directory, select the desired widget and click the blue button labeled "Install". Opera will download the specified application and display a dialog box asking you to choose one of the options for further actions.

Step 5

You can refuse the installation by clicking the "Cancel" button, or agree to this action using the "Install" button. The "Configure" button opens a window for accessing the installation settings. Placed in it controls allow you to change the name of the widget and the directory in which it will be saved. By placing checkmarks in the three checkboxes, you can specify whether to create shortcuts on the desktop, in the main menu, and in the quick launch bar.

Step 6

The end of the installation process will be informed by a window that appears on the screen with a corresponding message. If you do not want to activate the widget immediately, uncheck the "Launch widget" checkbox. Click the "Finish" button and the installation procedure of the widget will be completed.
