Sometimes you need to compare folders and files between your laptop and desktop computer in order to synchronize. Sometimes folder mapping is required to compare files on your work and home computers.
Necessary

- - Beyond Compare 3 program.
Instructions
Step 1
You need FileSync to map folders. The program is free and easy to find on the Internet. Install it on your computer and run it. From the main menu, select File, then click New Task. In the next window, give the project a name.
Step 2
A menu appears where you can start mapping folders. To do this, click the browse button and select the folders to be matched. Click the Analyze button. After that, you will have to wait a bit. After completing the operation, you can view all the information in the FileSync window. Only the most basic functions are implemented in this program.
Step 3
Another good program for comparing folders is called Beyond Compare 3. Find it online, preferably one of the newest versions. Download the program and install it on your computer hard drive. A reboot may be required after installation. If such a request appears, then you need to select the option "Restart computer now". After restarting your PC, launch Beyond Compare 3.
Step 4
In the upper section of the main menu of the program, select the function "Compare folders". Next, use the browse to select the folders that you need to map. After that, the process of matching them will begin. Wait for it to complete. Information about the folders will be available in the program window.
Step 5
An additional advantage of this program is the ability to synchronize files. To start it, you must select "Action" on the command bar. Then the "Synchronization" option will appear in the menu. You can also choose to synchronize folders immediately after starting the program in the list of basic actions. Beyond Compare 3 has many other features besides this feature. You can match music, pictures and many other file formats as needed.
