The paging file is a kind of assistant to the random access memory. RAM is the place where the so-called "cache" is stored - the data of running applications that the program constantly accesses.

Step 1
Random access memory, also called RAM, through its high processing speed, delivers cache to the processor for performing operations. But the point is that RAM has a physically limited value. It can be different on different computers depending on the number of RAM slots on the motherboard, as well as their size. On modern computers, this is 2, 4, 6 GB of RAM. However, some applications lack this amount of memory to process their processes. Then the paging file comes to the rescue - the high-speed space on the hard disk drive (HDD) reserved for expanding RAM.
Step 2
The paging file can be increased through the service applications of the Windows operating system. Go to the system folder "My Computer", click on any empty space with the right mouse button and select "Properties" from the context menu. The "System" window will open in front of you. In its left menu, click on the "Advanced system settings" link.

The Windows Properties Settings utility appears on the screen. In the "Performance" section, click the "Options" button. A new Performance Options window will open. In it, go to the "Advanced" tab. Here you will find the "Virtual memory" section and a description of the paging file, as well as its size. To set a new volume, click the "Change …" button.
Step 4
In the next service window "Virtual memory" check the box next to the line "Specify size", if another check box is set - "Size as selected by the system" or "Without paging file".

In the cell labeled "Original Size", enter the amount of memory shown below the "Recommended" option. In the next cell called "Maximum partition" enter a value that is at least 10-20% more than the value recommended by the system. After entering the values of the paging file in both cells, click the "Set" and "OK" buttons, and then also click "OK »In all previous service windows.
