Usually, to store information in a computer, it is recorded in files of a certain format. There are often several such files and they are located in subdirectories that create a strictly defined hierarchical structure. Moving information from one disk to another means moving this entire structure and, from a technical point of view, can only raise questions for a novice computer user who had to deal with the information itself, but not with the files that store it.
Instructions
Step 1
Use File Explorer if you want to move information from a disk on a computer running a Windows operating system. This application is intended for various manipulations with files and is launched by double-clicking on the "Computer" icon on the desktop. If it is not on your desktop, use the "Computer" item in the menu invoked by pressing the Win key.
Step 2
In the left part of the Explorer window there is a list of disks and folders with files located on it - open them sequentially to go to the directory where the files with the necessary information are stored. If you have not had to deal with files, but only with the information itself displayed in a program (for example, in an Excel spreadsheet editor), then you can find out where they are located in the same program. Select the "Save As" item in its menu and open the "Folder" drop-down list at the top of the save dialog - in it you will see the full path to the location where the open file is stored.
Step 3
Select a folder with files containing information, or only individual objects in it - at your discretion. Then click the selection with the right mouse button and select the line "Move to folder" in the menu that appears. In the "Move Items" window that opens, select the required disk or a specific folder on it and click the "Move" button. After that, the information copying operation will begin. Upon completion, the source files will be automatically deleted if the source and destination disks are on the same physical media. Otherwise, if you need to destroy the original files, you will have to do it yourself.
