Often images with a transparent background are required for a site, since pictures with a white square border look ugly on the site's own background. And even if you manage to pick up pictures with a background identical to the background of the site, then sooner or later, when you want to change the design of the resource, the background of the pictures will no longer match the color of the web pages.

Necessary

  • - The program "Photoshop";
  • - a picture for which you want to make a transparent background.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the desired image in Photoshop. Double click on the name "Background" of the image layer to change its name to any other. This will allow you to get a transparent background, and not a white background after removing unnecessary parts of the photo or drawing. Zoom in with the Loupe tool so that you can clearly see the edges of the object around which you want to remove the background.

Step 2

If the picture initially has a uniform background, then click anywhere in the background with the Magic Wand Tool. As a result, all pixels of the specified color within the enclosed area will be selected.

Step 3

If, when selecting the background with the "Magic Wand" tool, the selected area runs over the edges of the object in the picture, then it is necessary to reduce the selected area using the "Straight Lasso" + Alt, "Magnetic Lasso" + Alt, "Straight Lasso" + Alt, "Lasso" + Alt tools … Pressing the alt="Image" key and the selection tool at the same time excludes the desired element from the previously selected area.

Step 4

If the background of the image is not completely selected with the "Magic Wand", then to select the entire desired area, you need to include the necessary parts of the picture in the previously selected area. To do this, use the Straight Lasso + Shift, Magnetic Lasso + Shift, Straight Lasso + Shift, Lasso + Shift tools. Pressing the Shift key and the selection tool at the same time includes the desired area in the previously selected area.

Step 5

You can also select the object itself in the picture with the Pen tool, first tracing a path and editing it with the Pen + tool, and then clicking on the right mouse button and choosing "Form Selection". In order to select not the object, but the background, you need to execute the command "Select - Inversion".

Step 6

If the entire background space is selected, and the selection does not go beyond the boundaries of the object in the image, delete the selection by pressing the Delete button.
