Unlike most types of images, the peculiarity of using logos is that they most often have to be used as one of the design elements for hypertext or paper documents. A logo in documents is not an independent element, it has to be embedded in an existing design, so it is advisable to have its image on a transparent background. It is convenient to create such pictures in the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop.

Instructions

Step 1

If the logo has yet to be drawn, start by creating a transparent background layer. To do this, starting Photoshop, create a new document - press the key combination Ctrl + N or select the New item in the menu section named "File". In the properties window of a new document, set the width and height to match the size of the logo. Select Transparent from the Background Content drop-down list and click OK.

Step 2

Leave the transparent background layer blank and create a new layer to start working on the logo elements. The easiest way to do this is by copying the only layer so far - press the key combination Ctrl + J. You can, of course, do it according to all the rules - bring up the dialog for creating a new layer, give it a personal name, color coding in the general list, and set transparency parameters. Such a dialog is invoked by pressing the combination of "hot keys" Shift + Ctrl + N or by selecting the "Layer" item in the "New" subsection of the "Layers" section of the editor menu.

Step 3

The process of creating a logo itself is not covered in this article, and when it is completed, save the result to a file of one of the graphic formats that supports transparency. There are two options for saving dialogs to do this. One of them is invoked by the keyboard shortcut Shift + Ctrl + S or by choosing the "Save As" item in the "File" section of the Photoshop menu. In this dialog you need to select the CompuServe Gif or.

Step 4

Another variant of the save dialog allows you to choose the optimal ratio of quality to file size. Open it using the key combination Shift + Ctrl + alt="Image" + S or by choosing the line "Save for Web & Devices" in the "File" section of the editor menu. Here you should set the format Gif, Png-8 or Png-16 in the drop-down list placed in the upper right corner of the form. After that, select the required quality parameters and click the "Save" button.

Step 5

If you need to make the background of an existing logo transparent, then after the second step load its image into the second layer. To do this, open the "File" section in the menu and select the "Place" command. In the dialog that opens, find and select the logo file, and then click the "Place" button.

Step 6

Turn on the "Magic Wand" tool by clicking the corresponding icon on the toolbar or by pressing the W key. Move the pointer over each fragment of the logo background, right-click it and delete it by pressing the Delete key. When you are done with this procedure, save the result in one of the ways described in the third and fourth steps.
