Step 1
Open the picture you want to work with in Photoshop. If in the end you need a drawing of a size different from the original, here is to reduce it or cut out the necessary fragment. In order to select the whole picture, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A. Copy it using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C. Create a new document in Photoshop and paste the contents of the clipboard into it using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V. The background of the document should be transparent or the color that will eventually surround your drawing after the edges are rounded.
Step 2
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + N to make a new layer. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle or square of the desired size. In this case, the background color of this rectangle does not matter. Set the Radius parameter, which characterizes the degree of roundness of the corners, for example, 9. You can move the drawn shape using the keyboard arrows. Using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + T, you can change the shape of this shape. If you press the Shift key while changing the shape of the shape, the size will change proportionally. Make sure this shape is exactly what you need.
Step 3
Press the Ctrl key and click on the layer thumbnail in the Layers palette. After that, the shape you drew will stand out.

Activate the bottom layer and in the main menu run the Select - Inverse command. After that, select the area that is outside the shape you have drawn.
Step 5
Use the Delete key to delete the part of the picture you do not need. Make the top layer invisible. Click anywhere on the picture and thus deselect it. The picture with rounded edges is ready

If you need to round off the edges of an image often and they are the same size, then you can save the image you just made in PSD format so that the layers remain. After that, to create a picture with rounded corners, you will need to select the outline of the finished image, invert the selection and delete the unnecessary part.
