Voice and video communication via the Internet is not a novelty for anyone today. Popular services such as Skype and QIP allow you to start chatting in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, client programs for these services are not always equipped with all the necessary functions. For example, in order to record a video in a chat, you have to resort to using third-party software.
Necessary
installed Fraps application
Instructions
Step 1
Start Fraps. Use the shortcut in the Start menu, on the desktop, or on the Quick Launch. If they are missing, go to the folder with the installed program and run the fraps.exe file.
If the program window does not appear after starting it, check the system tray. The window can be minimized after the start if the Start Fraps minumized option was selected during the previous launch. Expand the window by clicking on the tray icon.
Step 2
Specify the directory to save the recorded video files. Click on the Movies tab in the main program window. Click the Change button next to Folder to save movies in. In the dialog that appears, select the desired directory.
Step 3
Select the keyboard shortcut that will be used to start and stop recording. Click on the Video Capture Hotkey text box. Press one or more keys on the keyboard. The text box displays a description of the keyboard shortcut.
Step 4
Disable recording frame resizing and select a frame rate. Check the Full Size option. Select one of the options with a standard FPS value, or activate the option for free entry of the value and enter it in the corresponding text field.
Step 5
Configure the display mode of diagnostic information during recording. Click on the FPS tab. Click the Overlay Display Hotkey text box. Follow the steps similar to those described in the third step to select a hotkey that changes the position of the FPS indicator or disables it.
Step 6
Open a chat. Launch the chat client application. Enter conference mode by connecting to the server and entering your credentials, if necessary. Carry out any other actions required to start the communication session.
Step 7
Record a video chat. Make sure the FPS indicator is displayed in the chat application window. Press the hotkeys defined in the third step. Make sure the FPS indicator turns red. This means that the recording process has started. Press the hotkeys set in the fifth step several times to disable the FPS indicator output. Continue recording video. When you need to stop recording, press the keyboard shortcut that you specified in step 3 again.
