Necessary

  • - programmer;
  • - a program for reading the firmware;
  • - computer.

Instructions

Step 1

Connect the programmer after inserting the chip from the SCX 4200 cartridge into it. Launch the software for flashing the chips, leave it to your own discretion. Preconfigure and select a device. After that, you should open approximately the following firmware scheme

Step 2

Modify the desired values. The numbers in the red zone indicate the identifier of the country of origin, there is no need to change the values here The numbers in the yellow area indicate the capacity of your cartridge: 01, 02… 09 correspond to thousands of copies of pages of a given size. The optimal value of this parameter is 3-5 thousand. The first three cells (a total of six values) in green are responsible for the date of manufacture. The value must be changed, for example, by adding one to the number or by writing down your code in digital form.

Step 3

If orange cells appear, their values must be reset to zero. Do the same with the page counter marked in blue in the diagram. One of the main indicators is the toner counter, marked in pink, and accordingly, must also be reset to zero.

Step 4

Also find and reset the drum counter marked in dark green in this diagram. Values marked in bright pink should be replaced with operational values such as 00 or 01. 02 indicates no toner, 00 normal, 01 low toner.

Step 5

After reprogramming the chip, remove it from the device, insert it back into the corresponding slot of the refilled cartridge.

Step 6

Print test pages, in case of malfunctions, re-zero and check the firmware for the correct values. Cartridge chips can be flashed a limited number of times, especially if they were not purchased separately from the device.
