Flash drives are data carriers that are capable of storing a large number of files. Often the number of documents on the medium becomes really large, which makes it difficult to find a particular file in the directories of the device. To search, you can use the tools of the operating system or special file managers.
Instructions
Step 1
Insert the data carrier into the USB port of your computer and wait for the USB flash drive to be detected in the system. In the dialog box that appears, click "Open folder to view files." Next, a window will appear with a list of documents that are stored on the carrier.

To search for a file, use the search bar located in the upper right corner of the "Explorer" window. Enter the name of the desired file and press Enter. After a while, the file you need will be displayed in the results in the same window.

Sometimes files on a USB flash drive are damaged by viruses and acquire the "Hidden" attribute. Thus, the files are physically present on the storage medium, but they are not displayed on the system. To find documents on a USB flash drive after a virus, you will need to configure the display attributes of hidden folders. To do this, click on the alt="Image" button in the "Explorer" window and select the "Tools" - "Folder Options" tab.
Step 4
In the dialog box that opens, click "View". In the list of options, go to the "Hidden files and folders" section, where check the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" item. Then click OK.

Select all the files that are on your media with the left mouse button. Then right-click on the selection area and select Properties. In the "Attributes" tab, uncheck the "Hidden" line. Apply the changes by clicking on the OK button. The file attributes change is complete.

To perform operations with files and search for them, you can use specialized file managers. Among these utilities, it is worth noting the Far and Total Commander programs.

Download and install the selected program from the Internet and launch it using the shortcut on the desktop or in the Start menu. In the application window, select your USB flash drive and click on the "Search" operation. Set the necessary parameters to search for the required document, and then click on the "OK" button to start the operation. Also, the selected utilities are able to display hidden files without applying additional attributes.
