Today, quite stringent requirements are imposed on official text documents - essays, term papers and theses, as well as many others. To always comply with them, you need to be able to use professional text editor commands, such as number text and others.

Step 1
Start the text editor Microsoft Word 2003 or later. If you do not have a working licensed version of the product, use its free analogue AbiWord, which is distributed free on the Internet under the free license of the GNU GPL. Create a new text document, or open an existing one.
Step 2
To number the text, select the required area in it. Then find the top toolbar, in which click on the "Numbered List" button. It looks like a square with the numbers "1-2-3" down in order. After running the command, the text will be divided into numbered paragraphs.
Step 3
If you want to set the pages of a text document, you should go from the menu bar to the section "Insert" - "Page numbers". There you can set the style and format of the numbers, as well as their location on the page. Click "Ok" at the end.
