When processing image files on a computer, users are often faced with the need to change the image size or the aspect ratio of the photo. You can change the image format using the tools of the graphics editor Photoshop.

Instructions

Step 1

Start Photoshop. Use the Ctrl + O keys to open the required image. Press Ctrl + A on your keyboard. A dotted frame appears around the image. Copy the image to the clipboard by pressing Ctrl + C.

Create a new document with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + N. Set the required Width and Height values in the dialog box. Select units of measurement: centimeters, millimeters, pixels. Please note that the unit of measurement affects the size of the final image. Click the OK button.

Step 3

Paste the image using the Ctrl + V keys. The picture will be added to the created canvas on a new layer. To adjust the position of the photo, press the V key, place the cursor on it. Hold down the left mouse button. Drag the photo to the desired location. Press Ctrl + Shift + S to save your changes. Give the file a new name. Save in.

Step 4

You can act differently. If you want to keep the aspect ratio while editing the image size, press Ctrl + Alt + I. Enter new values in the image length fields. The value in the width field will change itself, proportionally to the existing ones. Click the OK button.

Step 5

If you are sure that you can ignore the aspect ratio when editing the image size, press Ctrl + Alt + C. Change the values in both the length and width fields. Click on the Ok button and save the image.

Step 6

Change the aspect ratio of your photo by cropping the image. Press the C key. In the field below the top menu, set the length and width in units of measure. Highlight the desired part of the image and press Enter. The image will be cropped. Resize as above.

Step 7

Change the resolution (also called format) of the image. Press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + S. Select the one you want from the list of formats. Save the image in a new format.

Step 8

Use the ACDSee editor program. Open a photo in it. Double click on the photo icon and it will load in the program. Press Ctrl + F or right-click to bring up the context menu. Click on "Change" and then "Convert file format". Set the format of the photo. Change the suggested settings if necessary. Save the photo.
