It is possible to speed up the launch of Firefox by tweaking the browser to access the most important settings. By controlling them, you can not only "tune" the application, but also completely disable the program. Be careful!
Necessary
- - Windows XP
- - Mozilla Firefox
Instructions
Step 1
Use the Windows XP operating system pre-caching property for frequently run programs. In this case, a special directory is used - Prefetch. Technically, the operation is carried out as follows.
Step 2
Call the service menu of the Mozilla Firefox application by right-clicking on the browser icon and go to the "Properties" item.
Step 3
Add the value / Prefetch: 1 in the "Object" field, which displays the path to the program. The full value of the path to the browser will look like this:
C: Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe / Prefetch: 1This operation will allow the system to register additional information about the browser in the Prefetch folder to quickly launch the Firefox application.
Step 4
Enter about: config in the address bar of your browser to access a similar regedit editor for the Mozilla Firefox application.
Step 5
Create a new binary parameter called cofig.trim_on_minimize to prevent Firefox from unloading from system memory when minimizing application windows.
Step 6
Set the value of the newly created parameter to false and restart the browser to apply the changes.
Step 7
Enter the value about: config in the browser address bar again to limit the amount of memory used by the application.
Step 8
Create a new integer parameter browser.cache.memory.capacity and specify the amount of memory you want as the parameter value (in kilobytes).
Step 9
Restart Mozilla Firefox to apply the selected changes.
Step 10
Create another new string parameter named browser.cache.disk.parent_directory to move the application disk cache to a different directory.
Step 11
Specify the desired path to the temporary Internet content storage directory as the value of the newly created parameter and restart the browser to execute the command.
