There are several options for speeding up data transfer over USB. Unfortunately, relatively old versions of these ports are not always able to provide a high speed of information exchange.

Step 1
Clean the contacts of the USB channel and the device connected to it. For this, it is better to use a scalpel or a sharp knife. Turn off your computer or laptop and scrape the USB port pins. Be careful not to damage the connector. Carry out a similar procedure with the connector of a USB storage device or other connected equipment.
Step 2
Some relatively old computer models are equipped with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports at the same time. Sometimes newer channels are simply inactive or work in USB 1.1 mode. Turn on your computer and open the BIOS menu while holding down the Delete key. Go to the Advanced System Configuration menu. Find USB mode (if available). Set it to USB 2.0. Despite the fact that the maximum speed of the USB 2.0 channel is 480 Mbps, many devices are not capable of transferring information at that speed.
Step 3
If the capabilities of your motherboard allow you to select the USB port operating mode from the existing options, then select the HiSpeed item. Save your BIOS menu settings and restart your computer. If we are talking about a USB storage device, such as a USB flash drive, try formatting this device. Select the file system type FAT32. Sometimes this allows you to achieve a higher speed of reading and writing data. Be sure to defragment your USB device.
Step 4
If the above methods do not work, connect additional USB ports. There are special cards that plug into the PCI slot on the computer's motherboard. They usually have 3-5 USB 2.0 connectors. Connect this card to a switched off computer and use these channels when you need to achieve high data transfer rates. The keyboard and mouse can also be connected to the old ports. This will not affect the quality of their work.
