Automatic logon without entering a password is much more convenient than the standard one if the computer has only one user or one account is used much more often than others. By default, the only account logs in without a password. All other cases require additional configuration.
Instructions
Step 1
Press the Win + K keys at the same time to configure the automatic logon of a computer that is not a member of the domain.
Step 2
Enter netplwiz (for Windows Vista and Windows 7) or control userpasswords (for all Windows versions) in the Open field of the Run window that appears.
Step 3
Press Enter to display the User Accounts dialog box.
Step 4
Select the desired user and uncheck the Require username and password box.
Step 5
Click OK to display the Automatic Login dialog box.
Step 6
Enter the password of the selected user to confirm the application of the changes and click the OK button to complete the operation.
Step 7
Press the Win + K keys at the same time to configure automatic logon on a computer that is a member of the domain.
Step 8
Enter the value regedit in the "Open" field of the "Run" window that opens and press the Enter key to invoke the "Registry Editor" utility.
Step 9
Go to section
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE | MicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWinlogon and adjust the registry settings.
Step 10
Enter 1 in the AutoAdminLogon string parameter to enable automatic login.
Step 11
Enter the username in the DefaultUserName string parameter to identify the user to log on automatically.
Step 12
Enter a password in the DefaultPassword string parameter to confirm the auto-login user selection.
Step 13
Enter the domain name in the DefaultDomainName string parameter to define the domain to be automatically logged into.
Step 14
Reboot the system to apply the selected changes.
Step 15
Use the Shift key to log in with a different account when automatic logon is enabled when Windows starts.
