In various cases, the user may need to trim the music file. For example, to ring a mobile phone or get rid of a too long introduction.
Instructions
Step 1
To trim a music file, you need one of the programs designed to work with audio files. Examples of such editors include applications such as Nero Wave Editor, Sound Forge, Adobe Audition, etc.
Step 2
Launch your chosen audio application. Open the required music file in the program. To do this, select "File" -> "Open" from the menu. In some applications, adding files can be done through "File" -> "Import". In the file browser window that appears, open the folder in which the required file is located, select it and click the "Open" button, or double-click on it. You can also add a music file to many applications by simply dragging and dropping it from the Explorer window into the program window.
Step 3
The added file will open in the audio editor interface. Depending on the selected application, the set of tools used may vary slightly, but the principle of operation is the same. If the program has the Cut tool, select it, otherwise work with the standard tool. Next, using the mouse pointer, select the part of the music file that you want to trim. After that, right-click on the selected area and select "Delete", "Cut" or another, depending on the application used. Alternatively, you can press the Delete button on your keyboard. Trim off other excess parts from the music file if necessary.
Step 4
Now save your changes. To do this, select "File" -> "Save As" ("Export" in some programs). Next, specify the location to save the file, give it a name and select the desired format. Click the "Save" button and wait for the process to finish.
