Step 1
Use the Microsoft System Configuration Utility to open a.cab file on a Windows computer. To do this, open the main menu of the system by pressing the "Start" button and go to the "Run" item.

Enter the msconfig value in the "Open" line and click the OK button to confirm the launch of the required utility.

Use the standard WinRar archiver to open files of the selected type, or try changing the.cab extension to.rar. To do this, select the "All programs" item in the main menu of the system and open the "Standard" link.

Launch the Windows Explorer application and expand the Tools menu in the upper toolbar of the program window.

Select "Folder Options" and go to the "View" tab of the dialog box that opens.

Uncheck the box "Hide extensions for registered file types" in the group "Advanced options" and confirm the application of the selected changes by clicking OK.
