Removing images from optical discs has long been widely practiced among personal computer users. In the form of images, it is quite convenient to store backup copies of data from disks, that is, data that does not need to be changed. But what if you need to add a file to a disk image?

Necessary

  • - emulator of optical drives Alcohol 120%;
  • - a program for recording information on optical discs Nero Burning Rom;
  • - space on the hard disk of the computer, sufficient to copy information from the image.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the disk image in Alcohol 120%. Press the Ins button, Ctrl + O shortcut, or select File and Open from the menu. In the dialog that appears, go to the directory with the image, select the image file and click the "Open" button. The image file name will be added to the list of images.

Step 2

Mount the open image to one of the virtual drives. Click on the name of the image in the list with the right mouse button. In the context menu, select "Mount to device", in the appeared child menu, select the item corresponding to the preferred drive.

Step 3

Copy the entire contents of the image to a temporary directory on your hard drive. Open your file manager or Windows Explorer. Go to a drive that has enough space to hold all the information from the image. Create a temporary directory on disk. Next, open the root directory of the media mounted in the virtual optical drive in another panel of the file manager or another explorer window. Select all files and folders of the virtual disk. Copy the highlighted content to a temporary directory.

Step 4

Add the file to the contents of the disk image. In the file manager or explorer, find the file, files or directories to add to the image. Copy them to a temporary directory where the contents of the image were placed in the previous step. Create an additional directory structure in the temporary folder, if needed.

Step 5

Create a new project in Nero Burning Rom. Press Ctrl + N, the New button on the toolbar, or select File and New from the menu. In the dialog that appears, select the format of the image to be created. It must match the format of the image from which the data was copied to the temporary directory. Click the New button.

Step 6

Add all files and directories from the temporary directory to the project created in Nero Burning Rom. In the left pane of the project manager, find and highlight the temporary directory. Select all its contents with the mouse or by pressing Ctrl + A. Drag all the selected content to the right window of the project manager.

Step 7

Select the virtual image recorder as the target device. Click on the drop-down list located in the toolbar. Make the current item Image Recorder.

Step 8

Start recording your project. Press Ctrl + B, click on the "Burn" button on the toolbar, or select the "Recorder" and "Burn Project …" items from the menu. In the dialog that appears, click the "Burn" button.

Step 9

Record the image with new content including the added information. In the "Save image file" dialog select the folder to save the file and the name of the image. Click the Save button.

Step 10

Wait until the completion of the formation of a new image file. Information regarding the process of recording information will be displayed in the application window.
