The Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (WGA) is a mandatory update KB892130 that is used to validate the activation key when visiting the WindowsUpdate web resource. It is an ActiveX control of the LegitCheckControl.dll module.
Instructions
Step 1
Log in as a computer administrator and locate the% Windir% system32 / WgaLogon.dll file.
Step 2
Change the name of the found file to% Windir% system32 / WgaLogon.old and search for the file% Windir% system32 / WgaTray.exe.
Step 3
Rename the found file to% Windir% system32 / WgaTray.old and restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
Step 4
Use an administrator account to log in and open the main menu of the Microsoft Windows operating system by clicking the "Start" button to uninstall the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool.
Step 5
Go to Run and enter cmd in the Open field to run the command line tool.
Step 6
Click OK to confirm the run command, enter regsvr32% Windir% system32 / LegitCheckControl.dll / u in the command prompt text box, and press the Enter function key to execute the command.
Step 7
Restart your computer to apply the selected changes and return to the main Start menu.
Step 8
Go to Run again and enter cmd in the Open field.
Step 9
Click OK to confirm the command prompt, enter del% Windir% system32 wgalogon.old in the text box and press Enter to confirm the uninstall command.
Step 10
Repeat this sequence of actions for the commands:
del% Windir% system32 WgaTray.old and del% Windir% system32 LegitGheckControl.dll.
Use the Enter key after each one.
Step 11
Enter regedit at a command prompt to run the Registry Editor tool and expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows NT / CurrentVersion / Winlogon / Notify / WgaLogon.
Step 12
Delete the values of the found parameter and expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows NT / CurrentVersion / Uninstall / WgaNotify branch and delete the found subkey.
Step 13
Exit all programs and restart your computer to apply the selected changes.
