The appearance of the graphical interface of the operating system is what the user has to deal with in every session with the computer. Therefore, it is he who most often undergoes modernization - fortunately, the creators of modern operating systems have provided for quite wide customization options with relatively simple management. Among other design elements, it is possible to change the icons used by the system to display various files.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to change the set of icons used by the operating system is to change the "theme". It includes not only shortcuts for the desktop and Explorer, but also wallpaper, screensaver, design of program windows, a set of sounds. To select a different theme in Windows 7, the "Personalization" component is intended - launch it using the item with the same name in the menu that is invoked by right-clicking on the desktop background image.
Step 2
Select one of the themes in the right pane of the window that opens. Left-clicking on the theme icon will immediately initiate a change in the entire design; no button presses or responses to confirmation requests are provided in this OS version.
Step 3
If an older version of Windows is installed on the computer (for example, Windows XP), then the theme change must be done differently. After right-clicking on the desktop background, select Properties from the context menu. In the opened OS component there will be a separate tab with the name "Themes", but for which the list of available design options is placed in the drop-down list - open it and select the required line. Then press the OK or Apply button, only after that the system will change its graphic design, including the set of icons.
Step 4
Icons can be changed not all at once, but selectively. To do this, first of all, you need to prepare the labels themselves with a new design - their sets in huge quantities can be found on the Internet. After you download and unpack all the necessary icons somewhere, you can start replacing. To do this, right-click the selected shortcut and use the "Properties" item in the context menu that appears. The properties window will appear on the screen, open on the "Shortcut" tab - click the "Change icon" button at its bottom.
Step 5
In the window that opens, there will be several options for icons, if this shortcut belongs, for example, to an executable file. You can either select one of them, or click the "Browse" button and indicate any of the replacement options you have prepared. After that, press the OK buttons in the open windows and proceed to changing the shortcut of the next object.
