Step 1
Check if the built-in or plug-in microphone is enabled using standard Windows tools. To do this, go to the Windows "Control Panel" (through the "Start" menu, or using the icon on the desktop) and double-click on the "System" icon. In the operating system properties window that opens, go to the "Hardware" tab and click on the "Device Manager" button in it. A list of all physical and virtual devices installed on the computer will open. In this list, click on the "+" symbol opposite the line that says "Sound, video and game controllers". Make sure that all devices and codecs in this list are enabled (not marked with “?” And a red cross).
Step 2
Launch the Mail. Ru Agent program, open its main window and press the "Menu" button. In the menu, select the line "Program settings …" and click on it. In the settings dialog box that opens, go to the "Voice and Video" tab. Use the drop-down list called Audio Recorder to configure your microphone. Install the desired device (built-in or external microphone) in it. In addition, if necessary, check the box next to the "Microphone gain" line.
Step 3
In the settings of the Mail. Ru Agent program, you can also set the parameters of sound devices automatically. To do this, in the "Voice and Video" tab, check the box next to the "Automatic sound settings" line. Please note that some sound cards do not support automatic configuration in this program. After setting, click OK and make a test call to someone you know, during which make sure that the microphone is working properly.
