Each monitor has its own peculiarities in color and other parameters, which are easy to adjust. The end result is bright and contrasting colors suitable for both watching movies and playing games.

Instructions

Step 1

In the setup process, we use a scale that consists of several levels. Each of them is designed to check the correctness of the settings for certain parameters. When making adjustments, note that colors on the LCD monitor vary with viewing angles: what appears black at right angles may appear red when viewed from the side. Therefore, select head positions in relation to the monitor so that you can see the test bar at right angles.

Step 2

Start by setting the contrast correctly. Plot number 1 of this scale will help you with this. Ideally, numbers from 9 to 0 should be visible on it. But there are no supermonitors, so we try to get the most out of our monitor.

Step 3

Set the contrast control to the highest value - the numbers on the light background will disappear completely. Decrease the contrast while observing area 1. At some point, several digits (first 9, then 8) should appear. As the contrast decreases, the number of digits appearing increases, but it is unlikely that all of them will be visible. Starting from a certain contrast value, its further decrease does not lead to an improvement in the visibility of the numbers. This means that this contrast setting is optimal.

Step 4

In other words, the optimal contrast value is the highest at which we see the maximum number of digits in section 1. If the contrast of the monitor is greater than the optimal one, then we will see fewer digits than the monitor can display. If the contrast is less than optimal, then we will definitely lose contrast, without improving the visibility of the numbers.

Step 5

Note that on many monitors, numbers do not appear even at the lowest contrast settings. It is unrealistic to fix this without specially produced means, and you have to come to terms with these features of monitors.

Step 6

Most often monitors "come" from the factory with overestimated brightness parameters. These settings are made for watching movies, but they are not suitable for working with color programs. They are not even suitable for normal work with text editors - the eyes quickly get tired, especially if the work is done in a poorly lit place. We need to correct this misunderstanding by taking a sheet of white paper and placing it under the standard lighting in which you are working. Open any programs where you can see a large area of white.

Step 7

Adjust the brightness control on the monitor so that the brightness of this area is the same as that of a sheet of paper. During the setup process, do not place a sheet of paper on the monitor, let it lie in its normal position. Do not doubt that the settings are correct: the main criterion is yours (and not someone's eyes). If, nevertheless, it seemed to you that the brightness of the monitor and the paper are similar, then everything is normal. Do not be alarmed if the values of the brightness control have decreased significantly. In certain models, it has to be reduced to zero.
