If several Internet browsers are installed on the computer, the user must choose which application will automatically open all links. To make a program the default browser, you need to do a few things.
Instructions
Step 1
Usually, when installing a new browser, you will be asked whether to make the installed browser the default program. If you answer in the affirmative, you don't have to do anything else. If you want to change one browser to another, refer to the program settings.
Step 2
To make Internet Explorer the default browser, start the browser in the usual way. In the top menu bar, select the "Service" item and click on the "Internet Options" sub-item with the left mouse button. A new dialog box will open. Make the "Programs" tab active in it.
Step 3
In the group "Browser by default" click on the button "Use as default". To check for compliance with the specified parameters each time the browser is launched, select the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not used by default" box with a marker. Click on the "Apply" button to save the new settings.
Step 4
To automatically open links in Mozilla Firefox, in the browser window select the "Tools" item and the "Options" sub-item in the menu. In the dialog box that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab. Make the "General" mini-tab active. In the "System Preferences" group, set the token in the "Always check on startup if Firefox is the default browser" box.
Step 5
Click on the "Check Now" button. A request window will appear. Confirm in it that you want to make Firefox your default browser by clicking on the "Yes" button. For the new settings to take effect, click the OK button in the lower right corner of the window.
Step 6
In Google Chrome, for the same purposes, click on the "Set as default browser" button on the toolbar. If this button is not in the browser window, click on the "Settings" button in the form of a wrench. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu. A new window will open, select the "General" section in it. In the "Default browser" group, click on the "Set Google Chrome as default browser" button and close the window.
