If you have several Internet browsers installed on your computer, one of them will be the default browser, that is, the application in which all links are automatically opened. The second browser is ignored. To disable one browser and set the second browser as the default, you need to take a few steps.
Instructions
Step 1
The default browser, as such, is not disabled. It is necessary to set the correct settings in the Internet browser that you want to set as the default browser. Also, if you uninstall one of the programs, the second will automatically become the default browser.
Step 2
To set Internet Explorer as the default browser, start it and open the Internet Options window from the Tools menu. Make the "Programs" tab active in it. Find in the group "Browser by default" the button "Use by default" and click on it with the left mouse button. If you want a check to be performed every time you start the browser, select the "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not used by default" box with a marker. Save the new settings by clicking on the "Apply" button and close the window.
Step 3
If, among others, the Opera browser is installed on your computer, the first time you start it, a window will appear asking you to make the program the default browser. Answer in the affirmative or wait for the application to start and in the Opera menu select the "Settings" item and the "General settings" sub-item.
Step 4
A new dialog box will open. Go to the "Advanced" tab in it. Place a marker in the "Check that Opera is the default browser" field and click on the "Settings" button to the right of the line. In the additional window, mark the "Default browser" item with a marker, confirm the new settings with the OK button.
Step 5
To make Mozilla Firefox the default browser, launch it and click on Options in the Tools menu. In the new dialog box, go to the "Advanced" tab and make the "General" mini-tab active. Click on the "Check now" button next to the "Always check on startup if Firefox is the default browser". Once verified, you will be prompted to set the application as the default browser. Click on the "Yes" button in the request window.
