Instructions

Step 1

Windows XP users must change the power saving and power settings to disable the use of hibernation completely. Click the "Start" button, then "Control Panel". Find the Power Options icon if you have a lot of small icons in the control panel and double-click it with the left mouse button. If there are few icons, select the Performance and Maintenance category. A page will open where you will see the Power Supply icon at the bottom of the window. Activate it. The settings window will open with several tabs, the title will be the inscription "Properties: power supply".

Step 2

The first tab you'll find yourself on is Power Schemes. Under the same heading, there is a drop-down list from which you can select different schemes for enabling energy-saving modes. Select the "Presentation" item from the list, in the lower half of the window you will see how the words "never" appear opposite the lines "Turn off the display", "Turn off disks" and "Standby". The same can be done manually, for this select the option "Never" in all three lines from the drop-down lists.

Step 3

Click the Apply button in the lower right corner of the window. This will save your choice.

Step 4

Left-click on the "Hibernation" tab. On this tab, find the inscription "Allow the use of hibernation" and uncheck the box, if it is there. If not checked, great, do not change anything. Click the Apply button and then OK to finalize the settings.

Step 5

Reboot your computer. Done, hibernation is completely disabled on your computer.

Step 6

For those using Windows 7 or Vista, disabling hibernation is slightly different, although the general principle is the same. Click the "Start" button, select "Control Panel". If you have a category view, that is, there are few possible items - select "Hardware and Sound". A submenu will open in which click on the heading "Power supply". If you have a lot of small icons in the control panel, immediately click the "Power supply" icon. The result will be the same.

Step 7

At the top of the window, find the inscription "Select a power plan". A little below the "Balanced" item should be marked, to the right, activate the inscription "Power plan settings", the settings page will open. On this page, from the drop-down list, select "Never" next to the lines "Turn off the display" and "Put the computer into sleep mode". Then click the "Save Changes" button. Close all windows and restart your computer.
