Almost every PC user has at least once faced such a problem as lagging sound while watching a movie or TV series. There are a number of factors that affect the lag in audio while watching video files. Problems arise either from faulty computer hardware or from software.

Why is the sound delayed?
Why is the sound delayed?

It is very rare for audio to lag due to faulty hardware. If this happens, the cause is a faulty sound card (board) on the PC. It generates an audio signal and transmits it to headphones or speakers. The main cause of a sound card malfunctioning is the swollen capacitors, as a result of which the sound is generated incorrectly or with an error. Therefore, at the output, the sound is delayed, slows down, or is completely absent. Try plugging in a different sound card and check the sound.

Software is the main cause of audio lag. First, make sure the hard disk and floppy mode is DMA and not PIO. Open the device manager of your operating system and expand the IDE ATA / ATAPI controller. Then click on each line and in the window that appears, on the additional parameters tab, check the current transfer mode. If the transfer mode is PIO, then it must be changed to DMA, and then restart the computer.

If the audio lag still continues, then you need to check and update the codec package, and also check the player software update. This can be done by starting the player and in the menu click the "Help" button and then the "Check for update" button. You can also install several codec packages and player programs from different manufacturers, in most cases this helps. After each update or installation of a new program, you must restart your computer.

Also, the cause may be the faulty or "broken" video file itself. Try playing it on another computer.
