Most video adapters of modern personal computers can connect two or three displays. This allows you to significantly expand the desktop area or work with multiple applications at the same time.
Necessary
Video signal cable
Instructions
Step 1
Select the channels on the video card to which you will connect the monitors. In this case, you must use the available D-Sub (VGA), DVI and HDMI ports. The latter connector is present only on modern video adapters. If one of the monitors has a port for transmitting a digital image, then it is better to connect this device to DVI or HDMI channels.
Step 2
Connect the monitors to the computer's video card. Turns off the computer beforehand to avoid possible short circuits. Turn on your PC and wait for the operating system to load. Most likely, the second display will be detected automatically. If this did not happen, then open the "Connect to an external display" menu and click the "Find" button.
Step 3
Usually after defining the second display, it works in duplicate mode. This means that both monitors will show the same image. Open the synchronous display settings menu. Select your primary monitor. Remember that it is on it that all applications will initially run.
Step 4
Now set the second screen operation parameter. If you are comfortable with duplicating the image, then leave it as it is. Usually this option is used when connecting a large screen to display presentations. Select Expand Screen to run multiple applications together on both monitors. After pressing the "Apply" button on the second display all shortcuts and toolbar will disappear.
Step 5
Now start any windowed program and drag it outside of the first display. The working window should appear on the second display. Adjust the resolution of both screens. It is best to use identical display settings. This will slightly reduce the load on the video adapter.
