One of the latest versions of the Windows operating system, Vista, came with Windows Defender antivirus by default. Everything would be fine, but as practice has shown, this antivirus could not fully cope with the protection of the computer. When one antivirus is running, the other cannot be installed. To avoid application conflicts, one of the antiviruses must be closed.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the "Start" button menu, select "Control Panel". Click on it once with the left mouse button. A window with a large number of icons will appear in front of you. Find the Windows Defender icon. Double click on it with the left mouse button. The program control window will appear in front of you. To access the control menu and then close the antivirus, you first need to update the signature database. If it is of course necessary. If the database is currently up to date, then the problem is somewhat simplified.
Step 2
Find the Programs tab at the top of the antivirus window. A window with settings will appear in front of you. Here you can deactivate individual functions or disable the antivirus completely. If you want to completely get rid of the built-in defender of the operating system, and not disable, for example, automatic scanning or real-time protection, then uncheck the box "Use this program". After that, the built-in antivirus will no longer work.
Step 3
Close your internet connection before turning off your antivirus. Since the Internet connection is already dangerous in itself, you must close it before your computer becomes completely defenseless. Find the Internet connection icon on the taskbar.
Step 4
Click on it with the right mouse button. A context menu will appear in front of you. In it, select the "Disconnect" item. Click on it once with the left mouse button. After that, the connection to the Internet will be interrupted, and you can turn off the antivirus in complete safety.
Step 5
After that, restart your computer and install the anti-virus program that you think is reliable and optimally suitable for the parameters of your personal computer. Activate your internet connection and update the databases of the current antivirus.
