There are many special utilities that allow you to create hard disk partitions, format, resize and perform other necessary operations. Partition Magic is one of the most tried and trusted programs in this area.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - Partition Magic program.
Instructions
Step 1
Start Partition Magic. The left column will display a list of available disks that are installed on the computer. Local drives are displayed on the right. If there are no partitions on the hard drive, right-click on it and click the "Create Partition" button. For the disk to work with the operating system, in this window, select the "Main partition" option. Make the rest of the sections logical. Choose NTFS disk format. In the "Size" field, enter the required value in bytes to assign the size of the partition. Do not change the rest of the parameters and click "OK". Next, at the top of the program, click the "Apply changes" button and wait until all selected operations are completed.
Step 2
Select the local disk to resize the disk, right-click on it and select the Resize option. In the menu that appears on the screen, stretch / contract the strip to the required size. To accurately set the size of the disk, enter the desired number of megabytes in the "New size" field. To enlarge one section, first shrink the other.
Step 3
Increase the size of the local disk by combining the two disks. For example, in your system, the hard disk is divided into 4 local disks, one of them contains the system, the other contains programs and games. You want to combine the other two sections. To do this, call the context menu on one of them, select the "Combine" command. Next, check the box next to the section to which it will be attached and click "OK". Click the Apply Pending Operations button and wait for the disk resizing process to complete. You may need to restart your computer. After rebooting, the program will start and start making changes to the disk, do not turn off the computer at this time and do not interrupt the process. This will lead to the loss of data on the disk that is currently being processed by the program.
