A disk image is an exact copy of the disk from which the image was made. It can be saved on the hard drive of the computer and, if necessary, opened at any time using special programs. Also, a virtual image can be written to a regular disk at any time.

Instructions
Step 1
One of the programs with which you can create a disc image is called Nero. Although some users know Nero, mainly as a program for writing information to discs. If you have not yet installed it, then you need to download and install it.
Step 2
Insert the disc to be imaged into the optical drive of your computer. Start a program component named Nero Burning ROM. On the left in the window that appears, select the component called CD Copy.
Step 3
Then go to the "Copy Options" tab. In this window, check the "To tape" option, then in the "Source" section select your optical drive. You also need to set the reading speed. By default, it is set to maximum. But it is better to set the average reading speed, namely 16 or 18x. This will eliminate possible errors during the image recording process.
Step 4
Go to the "Image" tab. Click on the "Browse" button in the "Image file" section. Now specify the folder where the image will be saved after its creation. Uncheck the box next to the "Delete image file after copying" line.
Step 5
Next, go to the "Reading Options" tab. There is a section "Profile selection", next to which there is an arrow. Click on it and select the type of disc. Specify the type of disk from which the image will be created. After that, at the bottom of the window, click "Copy". In a few seconds, the process of creating a disk image will begin. Wait for this process to complete. Its duration depends on the read speed, as well as on the volume of the disk from which it will be directly created.
Step 6
After completing the operation, a dialog box will appear in which the details will be published. Go to the folder that you chose to save the image. The virtual disk image will be located in this folder. If necessary, you can also burn it to disc using Nero.
