Adobe Photoshop is one of the most powerful and flexible bitmap graphics editors today. Thanks to the user-friendly interface and a large set of tools, with the help of this tool, you can efficiently perform fairly complex operations related to image processing and correction. For example, you can separate hair from the background in Photoshop very efficiently and accurately.
Necessary
- - a file with an image;
- - installed Adobe Photoshop.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the original image in Adobe Photoshop. To do this, use the "Open …" item of the File section of the main menu or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O. In the Open dialog that appears, go to the directory containing the image file, select it in the list, click the "Open" button
Step 2
Select the scale of viewing the image in the document window, convenient for its further processing. Use the Zoom Tool by activating it by pressing the Z key or the button located on the toolbar
Step 3
Create an initial rough selection around the hair section. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool. If the hair color differs sharply from the background color, and the border of their separation is clear enough, using the Magnetic Lasso Tool may be more effective
Step 4
Switch to quick mask mode. Press the Q key or the Edit in Quick Mask Mode button on the toolbar
Step 5
Choose a brush with suitable parameters for editing the mask. Activate the Brush Tool by selecting it in the toolbox or by pressing the B key several times. Expand the Brush drop-down list located in the upper panel. Click on the image of your preferred brush. Set its diameter using the Master Diameter slider. Enter an initial value for the opacity of the brush in the Opacity field
Step 6
Edit the quick mask. Set the foreground color to black by clicking on the corresponding square in the side toolbar. Using a brush, paint over areas on the border of the hair and background that should not be included in the resulting image. Smooth out sharp transitions and corners. Vary the Opacity of the brush to find the best mode
Step 7
Disable quick mask mode. Click again on the Edit in Quick Mask Mode button in the toolbar or press Q
Step 8
Extract the hair image by copying it to the clipboard. Press Ctrl + C or select Edit and Copy from the main menu. Create a new Photoshop document adapted for pasting an image from the clipboard. Press Ctrl + N. In the New dialog box, select Clipboard from the Preset drop-down list and Transparent from the Background Contents list. Click OK
Step 9
Paste the hair image from the clipboard into the created document. Press Ctrl + V or select the Paste item in the Edit section of the main menu.
