You can search for text in a Word by selecting the "Find" command. This command is on the Edit menu for 2003 software packages, or on the Edit menu for later versions.
Instructions
Step 1
In the 2003 program, select the "Edit" menu, which contains the "Find" item. After selecting the appropriate item, a field appears for entering the search text, in which you must enter a word or phrase. This operation in the Word is called quick search, it allows you to quickly find and select those fragments of text that contain the word of interest, phrase.
Step 2
After entering the desired phrase, you should set other search parameters. In particular, if you need to select all the required fragments in the document, you will need to check the box next to the item "Select all elements found in". Then you need to specify the part of the document in which the search will be carried out according to the specified parameters.
Step 3
Click the Find Next or Find All button. In the first case, the search will be carried out until the first match with the desired phrase, the document fragment will be scrolled to the found phrase, it will be highlighted. Pressing this button again will find the next match in the document or part of it. If the "Find All" task is selected, the program will highlight all matches to the search phrase in a specific document or in its fragment. Search can be paused or canceled if necessary.
Step 4
When using Word 2007, later versions of the program, you should perform search operations directly from the "Start page" tab. To do this, the user must select the "Edit" menu group, which contains the "Find" command. Additional settings for this operation are minimized in these versions of the program, so you just need to specify the desired phrase and click "Find Next" or "Find All". These commands operate in a similar way to the 2003 Word. Thus, the task of searching for a given word or phrase in programs released later than 2003 has been greatly simplified.
Step 5
If the user needs to replace certain words in the entire document, then the corresponding operation is also carried out after a preliminary search for the fragments of interest. In Word 2003, to implement the specified replacement, you will need to fill in one more text field in the "Find" command. In later versions of the program, select the appropriate item in the "Edit" menu, which is located on the start page. When performing this task, the program will automatically replace all found words or phrases with those expressions that the user sets in the "Replace with" line.
