Instructions

Step 1

To access ActiveX controls, you must configure Excel to display the Developer tab. You can do this as follows: click the Office button in the upper left corner of the window, in the lower part of the context menu, click the Excel Options button.

Step 2

A new dialog box will open, select the "General" section in it. In the group "Basic options for working with Excel" set the marker in the field "Show Developer tab on the Ribbon". Click on the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the new settings.

Step 3

To create an ActiveX object, go to the Developer tab and select the Controls section on the toolbar. Click on the "Insert" thumbnail button. The context menu will expand. In the group "ActiveX controls" select one of the objects (field, radio button, list, and so on) by clicking on it with the left mouse button.

Step 4

The cursor will change its appearance. Use the cross-shaped pointer to size your object while holding down the left mouse button. When finished creating, release it. When you select any of the ActiveX controls on the toolbar, Excel automatically enters design mode. It is in this mode that the controls placed on the sheet are available for editing.

Step 5

Move the cursor to the object, select it and click on the selection with the right mouse button. In the context menu, select the "Object Format" item. A dialog box will open in which you can configure properties and set the size of the object, protect it from changes. The Web tab is populated when you plan to use a book or sheet as a web page.

Step 6

To access the attributes of an ActiveX object, move the cursor to it and double-click the left mouse button. The Properties window will become available. It is responsible for the characteristics of the object. If you are not satisfied with the default object properties, change them in this window.

Step 7

Remember that you can only access an ActiveX object and edit it as you see fit if design mode is enabled. In normal mode, the object acts as a functional control element - the button is pressed, the scroll bar is adjusted, etc. Design mode is turned on and off when you click the thumbnail button of the same name in the "Controls" section.
