Instructions

Step 1

First, make sure your custom brush files are ready to use. If they were archived, unpack the archives. If necessary, rename the files so that in the future you can easily recognize this or that brush by name, just do not change the endings of the names - the files of the brushes must have the.abr extension.

Step 2

You can store files of custom brushes either in the folder provided by the developers for these purposes, or in any other directory, so long as it is convenient for you to access it if necessary.

Step 3

By default, brushes are stored in the Brushes subfolder in the same directory where Adobe Photoshop was installed. If you haven't changed the installation path, look for it at C: (or another system drive) Program Files / Photoshop / Presets / Brushes. You can copy your custom brush files to this directory. If you do not want to lose the collection of downloaded brushes, it is better to store the files in a separate folder on any disk, but not on the one where the operating system is installed.

Step 4

To start using the new brushes, launch the Adobe Photoshop editor. On the toolbar, click the button with the image of the brush or use the B (Shift + B) key on your keyboard. When you select the Brush tool, the Options Bar will become active. Open the window for adjusting the size and hardness of the brush and click the arrow button in its upper right part.

Step 5

In the drop-down list of commands, select "Load brushes", a new window will open. Specify the path to the folder where your custom brushes are stored, select the file you want, and click the Download button. The selected brush will become available for use.

Step 6

There is another option for loading brushes. Select "Edit" and "Manage Sets" in the menu bar. In the window that opens, select the "Brushes" item in the "Set Type" field using the drop-down list. Click the Download button, specify the path to the folder with the brushes in the window that opens, select the required file and click the Download button. When you've finished loading the brushes, click Finish.
