Today, one of the most important concepts for a business person is the term "presentation". It is important not only to have a clear idea of the meaning of the word, but also to know the basic laws and rules for constructing presentations - after all, in a market economy, the ability to “show the goods” is decisive.

Step 1

The classic definition of a presentation is "public presentation of something." In fact, you can present anything you want, from a new brand of juice to innovative technologies. Structurally, this type of performance can be divided into several parts: demonstration of the object, detailed description of the characteristics and comparison with competitors / earlier versions.

Step 2

For example, in a job interview, you are actually presenting yourself. Your goal is to make a positive impression on the employer from the first minutes (demonstration), then - to provide comprehensive information about yourself (description of characteristics) and, finally, to explain why you are worthy of this place, and not other applicants (comparison) … It should be noted that the presentation is extremely positive and, unlike the “review”, does not describe the shortcomings of the object.

Step 3

Today, "presentation" has the second meaning - it is a slide show created in Microsoft Power Point or similar. As a rule, this format is used as a supporting material by speakers during speeches or various kinds of reports. Dry speech is always poorly perceived by the audience, therefore the lecturer demonstrates individual elements visually: pieces of text, photographs, diagrams and important notes can be placed on the slides.

Step 4

It should be noted that, despite the seeming ease of construction, creating a successful presentation can take a long time and is determined by a huge number of nuances. For example, it is strictly forbidden to insert more than 3 sentences of text on a slide, because the listener will be distracted and will miss part of your talk. Also, do not overuse animation - it is absolutely not required in a business speech. In addition, it is important to try to visualize your speech as much as possible, give any numbers in comparison on diagrams, and display any results and generalizations as a separate paragraph and read out directly from the slide. As a result, we can say that the "slide show" format is an ideal tool for any performance in front of people - from a lecture at a university to a presentation of major products such as the Apple iPhone.
