Sometimes it is convenient: I inserted a disc - and immediately the music, video, game starts, a program or document opens. This is especially important if the disc is intended for an inexperienced user. How can I make the file start automatically when I insert a disc? We will help you answer this question.

Necessary

  • - computer
  • - floppy drive
  • - disk
  • - mouse
  • - keyboard

Instructions

Step 1

Insert the disc into your computer's disc drive.

Step 2

Create a folder on the C: drive. In this folder you will then create an autorun file.

Step 3

Create an autorun.inf file in this folder. To do this, create a text document. If it looks like "Text document.txt", it means that the extensions for the registered file types are displayed for you. Rename the file to autorun.inf. Open the file. Type the following in it:

[autorun]

open = programm.exe In this file, programm.exe is the name of the program that will be launched automatically. If this program is located in a folder, specify the path to it as open = Folderprogramm.exe. Go to step 7.

Step 4

In the case of hidden extensions (the created file is simply called "Text Document"), go to any folder, in the "Tools" menu, select "Folder Options". In the "View" tab, uncheck the "Hide extensions for registered file types" option.

Step 5

Close folder properties. Go to them again. If the checkbox next to the "Hide extensions for registered file types" option reappears, it may mean that some virus is hiding the extensions. In this case, proceed through the command line.

Step 6

Click "Start", "Run", in the program launch line, type cmd. A command prompt will open. Type copy con c: 1aurorun.inf there. Hit enter. Enter [autorun] on a new line. Hit enter. Then type open = programm.exe. Hit enter. Press the combination Ctrl-Z, enter. Close the command line. In this file, programm.exe is the name of the program that will be launched automatically. If this program is located in any folder, specify the path to it in the form open = Folderprogramm.exe.

Step 7

Copy the resulting file to disk.

Step 8

Reinsert the disc, check if the file starts automatically.
