In order to properly reconfigure the operation of the local network, it is sometimes necessary to change the type of the IP address from dynamic to static. This applies not only to network adapters, but also to various routers or routers.

Step 1
If you need to give your computers static IP addresses for your network to function properly, follow these steps. Open the start menu and go to the computer control panel. Find and open the "Network & Internet" menu. Select the Network and Sharing Center submenu. Find the item "Change adapter settings" and open it.
Step 2
Now right-click on the icon of the network card whose parameters you want to change. Open the "Properties" item. Now select the "Internet Protocol TCP / IPv4" option and click the "Properties" button. For Windows XP, select the TCP / IP protocol.

Now activate the "Use the following IP address" function. Enter the value of the permanent (static) IP address in the corresponding field. Press the Tab key for the system to automatically detect the subnet mask. Save the settings of this network card by clicking the "OK" button.
Step 4
If you need to change the type of IP address for network equipment, for example a router, then first open its settings menu. Connect your desktop computer or laptop to the LAN port of the router. Enter the IP address of this equipment into a browser and press the Enter key. Fill in the Login and Password fields.
Step 5
After opening the web-based interface of the router settings, go to the WAN menu. Now, either disable the Get IP-address automatically function, or enable the Get Static IP-address option. Enter the desired value for the IP address.
Step 6
Now enter the address of the server through which you access the Internet. In some cases, it is necessary to enter not the IP address, but the domain name, for example tp.internet.beeline.ru, when setting up the Internet from the Beeline company. Click the Save or Apply button and reboot the router to apply the settings.
