When replacing individual computer components, installing RAM memory, you will have to open the PC case by touching sensitive electrical devices. Be careful when doing this, as static electricity can harm your computer. In this regard, basic precautions must be followed.
Instructions
Step 1
Static electricity occurs due to the difference in electrical charge between two surfaces. For example, if you rub your hand on a woolen sweater and then touch a doorknob, electrons will be transferred to it, equalizing the charge. When you touch the object, you will feel a little shock. Such shocks can damage the internal components of the PC. If the computer case is closed, then you do not need to be afraid of this phenomenon. However, if you are working with the lid of your PC open, or if you want to get a new graphics card or memory strip out of your bag, make sure in advance that this action will be safe.
Step 2
Remove all woolen items before starting work. Do not walk on woolen carpet. Wool causes static electricity.
Step 3
There is a main power switch on the back of the PC case, be sure to turn it off. Before touching the inside of the PC, touch the metal surface of the case on your side. This neutralizes static charges. Only then can you work without worrying about static electricity.
Step 4
If you often find yourself working in the digital repair business, buy an anti-static wrist strap.
Step 5
An anti-static mat is also available. However, the advice above is more than enough.
